







Dr. Loren S. Funt
Dr. Loren S. Funt is a board certified dermatologist who has practiced in Pittsburgh for over 25 years.
Dr. Funt graduated from George Washington University Medical School following a combined 3-year college and a 4-year medical school program. He subsequently fulfilled a one year internship in Washington, DC with the VA Hospital associated with Georgetown Hospital. Dr. Funt completed his dermatology residency in Detroit, Michigan at Henry Ford Hospital, a university of Michigan affiliated hospital.
Dr. Funt served as an assistant professor of dermatology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for over 20 years. He currently lectures dermatology residents on a regular basis at UPMC, University of Michigan, Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City and Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina. In addition, Dr. Funt teaches dermatology to Washington Family Hospital Practice residents.
Dr. Funt lives in Mt. Lebanon with his wife, Jackie, and their 2 dogs. The Funts have 4 grown children.
Dr. Susan L. Safyan
Dr. Susan L Safyan, a native of Los Angeles, CA, moved to Pittsburgh in 1987. She received a Bachelor of Science from UCLA, graduating Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude, with highest honors in Biochemistry. During her undergraduate years she received the University of California's prestigious Regents Scholarship. While at the UCLA school of Medicine she was named The Graduate Woman of the Year, was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society, and was again awarded the University of California Regents Scholarship.
Following both her graduation from the medical school in 1981, she completed an internship in internal medicine and a dermatology residency at UCLA. Dr. Safyan is board certified in dermatology and has been in practice for 21 years.
Dr. Jason Whalen
Nicole E. Funt, MPAS-PA-C
Nicole E. Funt, MPAS, PA-C has been a practicing Physician Assistant for over 6 years. She graduated cum laude from Wake Forest University in 1997, where she completed a Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Exercise Science. She earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree from Chatham College in 1999.
Nicole joined Mt. Lebanon Dermatology, PC in July of 2005. Her previous clinical experience includes 6 years in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, where she continues to see patients one day per week. She has also worked in the Emergency Department at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
In addition to dermatology, Nicole’s interests include academic medicine. She completed an online teaching fellowship in 2002. She served as Adjunct Faculty in the Physician Assistant Program at Chatham College from 2002 to 2003, and as Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies from 2003 to 2005.
